Siang River is the mightiest river which flows majestically way back from Tibet (Tsangpo) and go into Karbo near Gelling. Later it merges with the mighty Brahmaputra in Assam; it is again named as Padma in Bangladesh. It finally ends its journey at the Bay of Bengal. The main tributaries are Yomgo, Yameng, Lagru and Yamne. Kekar Monying, a mountain cliff near Rottung in East Siang district, finds an important place in the history of Arunachal. It was here that the Adi’s put up a stern resistance against the mighty British in 1911. A stone cliff which is 500 meters in length and stands 50 meters above bearing the name of Captain Noel Williamson still lies near the Siang. |
