| Bhishmaknagar was built by King Bhishmaka in 12th century AD, situated near the picturesque valley of Roing. The primeval fortress of the Bhishmaknagar has an elongated semi-circular shape and the main portion of the palace complex is made of bricks. The palace consist of three main halls and covers over 1860 meters plinth area. It is the oldest archaeological site of Arunachal Pradesh, denoted as a hill fort made of burnt bricks. The historical fort is situated 29 Km away, on the south east of Roing.
Rukmini Nati, built in 14th-15th century is located 12 km away from Roing. The ruin of Princess Rukmini of Rukminati is situated at the heart of Chimiri village. One can find the remains of the burnt and baked bricks which indicate the progress of the erstwhile civilization. The legend associated with the site tells that this was an opulent palace of Princess Rukmini, the daughter of King Bhishmaka.
Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 281.5 sq km. a number of primate species can be seen in the park.
Mayudia is an elegant hill resort which is 56 km from Roing in lower Dibang valley district. The months December and March witness the alluring glimpses of snow fall. Thick covers of snow add exquisite serenity to the place. A drive from Roing to Mayudia adds more thrill and adventure. Reh is a festival celebrated on the month of February by the Idu Mishmi. In this festival animals and birds are sacrificed in the name of different gods and deities for the welfare and prosperity of the organizer and community. The priest plays and vital part in ritualistic part of the festival and ‘Igu’ dance is performed. |
