Tawang Monastery
is the largest monastery in the Himalayan region and the second oldest monastery in Asia, built in 1681 AD at the height of 3500 m above the sea level also known as Galden Namgyal Lhatse meaning the Celestial Paradise of divine site chosen by horse. This world famous monastery is situated on a hilltop, surrounded by mountains, overlooking the Tawang Valley. 700 Lamas live in its residential buildings and it is rich in ancient scripture and has an 8 m high gilded Buddha.
Brama Dung Chung Ani Gompa
is the oldest in the Tawang district. It was built in 1595 AD by Lama Karchen Yeshi Gelek and located at a distance of 9 km from the main town. This Gompa is situated in the lap of a far off mountain festooned with natural backdrops.
Urgelling Monastery
was built in 1489 by Urgen Sangpo. It is situated 5 km south of Tawang town. The Sixth Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, was born in this Divine Monastery. The devastated monastery was later restored by Desi Sangye Gyamtso in 1699 AD.
Gorsam Chorten
built in early part of 18th century by Lama Pradhar situated in Gorsam near Zemithang which is 100 km north of Tawang town. It is the largest stupa of the region and rests upon a three-terraced plinth.
Jaswant Garh,
the War Memorial is 14 km from Sela Pass in Tawang. This War Memorial is a tribute to a brave soldier named Jaswant Singh Rama, Mahaveer Chakra Awardee (posthumous) of 4th Battalion Garwal Rifles who died combating alone for 72 hours in the 1962 Indo-China War.
Manjushree Vidyapeeth Orphanage
is the only orphanage of its kind situated at a distance of 5 km from the Tawang Township. Interacting with the inmate’s orphan children and the caretakers will append different experience of viewing and comprehending about the way of life.
Sela Pass
located at the height of 4,215 meter from sea level, is the second highest Pass in the world.
Tawang Chu River

P.Tso Lake
is one of the most beautiful lakes in the district.
Sangester Lake or Madhuri Lake,
as the name suggests, this serene lake was named after the famous Hindi movie actress Madhuri Dixit to commemorate her visit. She was here to shoot her movie named Koyla with her co-star the king of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan.
Geshila Peak
is the name of the famous and pristine peak of Tawang.
Tawang War Memorial
on November 2 1999, an elegant stupa measuring 40 feet was erected in memory of those valiant soldiers who courageously defending the frontiers sacrificed their life during the 1962 Indo-China war.
Losar
is a New Year festival, during which series of worship is performed to have successful life and obtain blessings of peace and prosperity for the entire community. This festival is celebrated in Gompa on the month of February.
